Ailsa Jane Frazer: Choir will start again in September. We especially enjoy singing gospel music and songs from musicals. We will now be busily preparing for the Christmas Concert!
We have three evening concerts a year, in addition to the IGCSE and IB recital evening and regular lunchtime concerts!
Recent trips have been to the Lobkovitz Palace, The Prague Music Museum and the Ethnic Instruments Exhibition in Pardubice. Members of Concert Club also regularly attend evening concerts in Prague.
We currently have over 20 students studying hard for the IGCSE and IB music exams...
... and all the hard work is worth it in the end!
It's not all Classical! There are also many rock musicians at PBS who rehearse regularly and perform both in school and in venues in Prague.
We now have over 25 students in orchestra and we enjoy playing classical music, pop songs and film music.
All students learning woodwind instruments have free tuition and the opportunity to hire instruments from school. Piano and guitar lessons are also available!

The Prague British School

Music is a very important part of our school life. All students have one Music lesson
a week up until the end of year 9. They then have the option of studying on the
IGCSE Music Course in years 10 and 11, and following that, the IB music course in
Year 12 and 13. We now have nearly twenty students studying for the IGCSE and IB
music exams.
We also have a busy extra curricular programme, including Orchestra, String Group,
Woodwind Group and Choir. Lots of our students also form their own groups and organise
rehearsals, whilst others come up to the department to practise compositions and
performances that they are working on in the lessons.
Many other members of staff are musicians although they actually teach different
subjects! This combination of enthusiastic staff and students helps to make the
music department an important and vibrant part of school life!
